Marv Says: Tony’s (formerly PJ’s) is a place for live music and some drinks. The definition of a dive bar, it happened to feature a jam band that seemed better suited to a high schooler’s garage rather than public performance. The bar seems full, but don’t expect flamboyant cocktails. Cheap PBR is available for those who partake. Keep things simple and you should be golden.

Marv Says: Lumpy’s Highland Drive location is not the same as it’s namesake downtown. It’s a two level bar featuring some pool tables, intimate seating, and a patio. While TV’s show sports, it’s not as overwhelming as the other location. A good place for a bite to eat and a drink to start your night.

Marv Says: Bongo is a neighborhood hideaway that features one of the lowest cost bars in the city. For a very small amount of cash (cash only here) you can drink to your heart’s content. Tucked away on Highland Drive, it can be hard to see but is well worth your time to find. It’s a friendly atmosphere and a good barstaff. If you are in the neighborhood, it’s your new favorite hangout.

Marv Says: Tucked away downtown, Poplar is sort of like three bars in one. You’ve the dinner area that also features live music, the patio for those who still smoke in the world, and a couple of pool tables back with a big projector display good for watching games. It can be quite crowded at times, but I always seem to be able to get a drink with ease. The food is pretty decent too, featuring the Scotch Egg. A fun place to meet people and a fair selection behind the bar, especially of local Craft beers. I loved my Hops Rising.

Marv Says: I had heard rumors that some of the bar staff from X Wive’s place had landed at The Woodshed. On entry I was astounded to see not one, but three of my old friends working there. Ryan, Laura and her husband Matt were all in attendance. It’s always the people that make a bar special. This case is no different. The bar is a fairly typical live music venue with a stage up front, lots of basic bar choices behind the bar. It also has a patio that I can only call Epic. The Patio is HUGE, with lots of places to sit away from the hit or miss music that might be on stage. But we need to go back to the staff. I frequented X Wive’s for over a decade large in part to these friends and more. They are what made that dive a great place. I’ll be going back more often now that I have found my friends. It’s just too much of a pull for me. They will get to know you and treat you right as they pour you a drink or two. It’s well worth the trip Down Town to meet these folks. You will never regret it.

Marv Says: Uncle Bart’s had a band duo playing as we entered. Unfortunately we thought it was karaoke. We arrived right as they finished their set. The bar is small, and very dive. It’s a long time mainstay of the “Just South of Down Town” neighborhood, but one you may never notice without looking for it. The bartender offered some concoction that I wisely avoided. I went with a Beam and Redbull to pep up a bit. Uncle Bart’s might surprise you. Check it out some time when you are in the mood for dive.

Marv Says: The Spot is in a funky building on 9th and Main. It’s exterior belies a very friendly, somewhat eclectic interior. A Fooseball table is present for those wanting to engage in a little faux soccer, as well as a couple of pool tables. A friendly bar staff is quick to offer some suggestions for your drinking pleasure. I enjoyed my Hazed and Infused beer.

Marv Says: A new neighborhood bar, Sugarhouse Pub was a last minute addition to the list ou acheter viagra g. Sugarhouse Pub is a fresh breathe of air in the Sugarhouse scene. Located just off of 21st South on 11th East, it is handy to the Sugarhouse Commons shopping area. A long bar featuring only beer (for now) but a good selection at that. Not overly loud, it’s possible to have conversations even when the bar is full. The bartender was incredibly friendly and seemed to enjoy our mission. Sugarhouse Pub will definitely be a place that I remember when I want to go out for a cold one on a hot summer night. We shared pitcher of Cutthroat while enjoying the local feel of the place.

Marv Says: Maggies is a very large sports bar nestled in a strip mall in Holladay. The decor is strictly bro-bar/sports bar. A pedestrian selection of libations will not challenge anyone’s creativity, but they do mix their cocktails well. The service was above average, and there are a wealth of tables. A very good location for groups of 6-10 people to visit with each other. Another Karaoke night met us with some horrific singing. I had a couple of SoCo limes and a Cutthroat with Makers.
